Yukon - An unmatched nature and wildlife experience in Canada

There are few phenomena that capture the imagination like the Aurora Borealis. The Northern Lights, for the most part, appear only at high latitudes on dark nights from September to March. If you are lucky enough to be outside at these latitudes, you can witness anything from an ethereal green glow on the horizon to pulsating magenta steaks or green curling bands above your head.

For me, it is a spectacle unmatched in nature and one I never tire of seeing.

The Yukon in Canada is one such location to photograph this phenomena as it dances in the sky above some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen in all my travels.

But it is just not the aurora that pulls me back to the Yukon year after year. It is also the wildlife. It is said that Moose outnumber humans two to one in the Yukon and the bison are as plentiful as construction zones at home. After traveling there, I can attest, this is true. But it’s just not the Moose and Woodland Bison… there are also Caribou, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, Thinhorn Sheep, Mountain Goats, Timberland Wolves, Canada Lynx and Coyote that roam the landscapes waiting for you to be there with your camera to capture them in their natural setting.

This natural setting is home to some of Canada’s best photographic landscape opportunities. From Emerald Lake in the south, to Kluane National Park in the west, to Tombstone Territorial Park in the north and everything in between… the Yukon is a wonderful territory to photography at any time of year.

This is why we have chosen to create some custom trips for travelers and photographers that want to see everything the Yukon has to offer in all seasons.

In the winter season we have created a one of a kind excursion into the mountains of the Yukon. You will lead your very own dog team and be treated to stunning landscapes and the phenomena of the aurora. Whether you want to capture the land through your lens, or simply get out and enjoy nature, you will love this trip.

Every year we visit the Yukon at the end of the winter when the weather warms. See next years trip here. http://northof49photography.com/yukon-aurora-and-landscapes
